Common processing techniques for zirconia ceramic materials

Zirconia ceramics have high toughness, and their processing performance should be considered relatively high for other ceramics. Therefore, there are five main processing methods. Below is a brief introduction to them.

Zirconia ceramic materials have the characteristics of high strength, high hardness, low density, low expansion coefficient, wear resistance, heat insulation, corrosion resistance, good chemical stability, and superior electric heating performance, and have become new materials widely used in aerospace, instrumentation, petrochemical, machinery manufacturing and other fields. However, due to the high brittleness, low fracture toughness and close elastic limit to strength of zirconia ceramic materials, the processing of zirconia ceramic materials is very difficult. If the processing technology is slightly improper, the structure of the surface layer of the workpiece will be destroyed, and it is difficult to achieve high-precision, high-efficiency and reliable processing, which limits the further expansion of the application scope of zirconia ceramic materials
