Transformer winding machine is a specialized equipment used to wind transformer coils. During the production process of transformer coils, winding equipment is divided according to the voltage level or capacity of the transformer. There are automatic wire winding machines and foil coil winding machines for winding high and low voltage coils of distribution transformers; There are vertical and horizontal winding machines for winding large power transformer coils.

It is generally configured with a structure such as a motor+reducer, and the variable speed mechanism is generally achieved through variable frequency transmission or gear switching of the reducer.

The larger the capacity of transformers used nowadays, the greater the impact on the power grid and the higher the safety requirements. The manufacturing quality performance of transformers requires not only reliable electrical performance, but also more reliable mechanical stability and short-circuit resistance. Stability is mainly manifested in the control of the manufacturing process of the coil, which requires electromagnetic balance between high and low voltage coils, tight axial turns, and uniform distribution. Therefore, it is required that the coil winding process should be compressed in the axial direction and rolled in the radial direction. A vertical winding machine should be used to precisely utilize the self weight of the wire cake, and the axial direction should be naturally compressed. A tensioning device should be used to control the tension in the radial direction. So now, vertical winding machines are commonly used for the winding of high-voltage coils in large transformers, and even low-voltage spiral coils are produced using vertical winding machines.

The current vertical winding machines of automatic winding machine manufacturers are further developing towards large-scale production. The original vertical winding machine had a load capacity of only 20t, but now it has been increased to 40t. The coil diameter can be used up to 3500mm, and the height can reach 4000mm. The airbag plate type tensioning device is used, and the digital display of tension size makes tension control more accurate, stable and reliable. In order to improve the dimensional accuracy of the wound coil and control the radial runout of the vertical winding machine, a fixing device for the winding die shaft head has been added; In order to control axial runout, high-precision double row roller type large bearings were used. Therefore, by using specialized equipment for coil winding, the production of windings has reached a new level. This makes it possible for the transformer to further reduce losses, reduce partial discharge, reduce weight, and reduce costs.
