Introduction to the Characteristics of Isostatic Pressing Forming

Isostatic pressure forming, also called hydrostatic pressure forming, is a forming method that utilizes the non Compressibility of liquid medium and the uniform transmission of pressure. The pressure applied to a sample in a high-pressure vessel is similar to that applied to static water at the same depth, so it is called hydrostatic pressure or isostatic pressure. The forming process obtained based on this principle is called hydrostatic forming, or isostatic pressure forming.

The isostatic pressing method has the following characteristics:

Complex, large, and slender products that cannot be produced by ordinary methods can be formed, and the forming quality is high

It can conveniently increase the forming pressure without increasing the difficulty of operation, and the pressure effect is better than other dry pressing methods.

Due to the uniform pressure on the green body in all directions, its density is high and uniform, and the sintering shrinkage is small, so it is not easy to deform.

The mold is easy to make, has a long lifespan, and low cost.

You can use less or no adhesive.

The operation process of isostatic pressure equipment is as follows: first, the prepared blank is loaded into an elastic mold made of plastic or rubber, placed in a high-pressure container, sealed, and injected into a high-pressure liquid medium. The pressure is transmitted to the elastic mold to pressurize the blank. Then release the pressure to remove the mold and remove the formed blank from the mold.

The liquid medium can be water, oil, or glycerol. However, the medium with low Compressibility should be selected, such as brake oil or anhydrous glycerin.

Elastic mold materials should be made of rubber or similar plastics with good elasticity and oil resistance.
