Our company has introduced the advantages and applications of silicon carbide industrial ceramics in the previous section. It can be used as various structural ceramics such as bearings, ceramic rings, ceramic pipes, etc. The synthesis and sintering of silicon carbide ceramics are more complex than ordinary ceramics.

SiC is almost non-existent on Earth and has only been found in meteorites. However, in many factories, silicon carbide ceramics are used as structural ceramic components and are used in various processing machines. Therefore, not all SiC powders used in industry are artificially synthesized. At present, the main methods for synthesizing SiC powder include the following four points:

1. Acheson method

This is the most widely used synthesis method in industry, that is, the mixture of quartz sand and coke is heated by electricity to about 2500 ℃ for high temperature reaction. Since quartz sand and coke usually contain impurities such as Al and Fe, a small amount of impurities are dissolved in the produced SiC. Among them, those with less impurities appear green, while those with more impurities appear black

2. Legalization

At a certain temperature, high-purity silicon reacts directly with carbon black. This allows for the synthesis of high-purity β- SiC powder, which is less commonly used, consumes a lot of cost in processing and synthesis

3. Thermal decomposition method

The decomposition reaction of organic silicon polymers such as polycarbosilane or trichloromethylsilicon occurs within the temperature range of 1200~1500 ℃, resulting in the preparation of submicron sized β- SiC powder.

4. Gas phase reversal method

React silicon containing gases such as SiC4 and SiH4, as well as carbon containing gases such as CH4, C3H8, C7H8, and (C 이 4, or gases containing both silicon and carbon such as CH3SiCI3, (CH3) 2SiC 어 2, and Si (CH3) 4 at high temperatures to prepare nanoscale β- SiC ultrafine powder.

After the synthesis of silicon carbide industrial ceramics, we need to take an equally important step, which is ceramic processing and sintering. In future articles, Kezhong Ceramic Factory will provide a detailed introduction to everyone.
